Effective Date: 28 July 2026
Lysoniq ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use Lysoniq across iOS, macOS, and tvOS ("the App") and our website at lysoniq.app ("the Website").
Lysoniq does not require you to create an account or sign in. We do not collect your name, Apple ID, contacts, location, or any personally identifiable information through the App. Any analytics we collect are recorded under a random identifier that is not linked to your name, email address, or Apple ID.
To let your devices find and sync with one another, each device generates a random, anonymous identifier (not linked to your name, email, or Apple ID) and registers it with our relay service. We process a limited amount of operational data to run this service, described in section 4 below.
If you submit a beta request or subscribe to our mailing list via the Website, we collect the email address you provide along with any optional information you choose to share (such as device preferences or feedback). When the beta or feedback form is opened from within the App, it automatically includes basic device details — such as the app version, platform, device model, and a pseudonymous analytics identifier — which we use only to help investigate and resolve your request.
Lysoniq integrates with your Apple Music account using official APIs provided by Apple. Access is limited to displaying and controlling your Apple Music library and playback. Your music streams directly from Apple Music to each device — audio content is never routed through our servers. We do not transmit or store your Apple Music library to our servers; when you use Cloud Connectivity, limited playback information (such as the current track and queue) is relayed between your own devices as described in section 4.
If you choose to connect Last.fm, you sign in on Last.fm's own website — your password is never entered into Lysoniq and we never see it. The App receives only a revocable session token, which stays with your devices and is sent only to Last.fm for scrobbling. We do not store it on our servers. Listening data is sent directly from the App to Last.fm's servers.
LYNQ lets your devices connect and sync over your local Wi-Fi network. With a LYNQ+ subscription, a relay service we operate extends this across cellular data and separate networks. This section explains how that service handles data.
When devices sync across networks, the relay forwards small synchronisation and control messages between your paired devices — for example, which device is playing, the current track and queue, and playback commands. Your audio is never sent through the relay; it always streams directly from Apple Music to each device.
These messages travel over encrypted (TLS) connections. The relay routes them between your devices by group and does not inspect, analyse, or store their contents — they are held only momentarily in memory to pass between devices and to let a newly connected device catch up to the current state.
We do not store your name, email address, Apple ID, or your IP address in this service. IP addresses may be processed transiently by our hosting provider for connectivity and abuse prevention but are not retained by us in our records.
LYNQ+ is an auto-renewable subscription sold through the Apple App Store. To confirm an active subscription, your device sends Apple-signed purchase receipts to our relay, which verifies them and stores the resulting entitlement details — such as the Apple transaction identifier, the product purchased, the subscription status, and its expiry date — linked to your anonymous device identifier. Apple may also notify our service of changes such as renewals, cancellations, or refunds so we can keep entitlement status current. We never receive your name, email address, or payment details from Apple; all billing is handled by Apple.
The relay runs on third-party cloud infrastructure across multiple regions, with data stored in a managed database. Subscription verification involves Apple's App Store servers. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics services in this relay.
We use a third-party analytics service to collect usage data under a random identifier. This helps us understand how the App and Website are used and improve the experience. Analytics may include:
Analytics are collected under a random identifier — never your name, email address, or Apple ID. If you contact support or submit feedback and include your email address, we may see that identifier alongside your message so we can investigate your issue; we use it only for support, never for marketing or profiling.
On the Website, our analytics provider (Mixpanel) stores a first-party cookie containing a random identifier, so that repeat visits are counted as one visitor rather than many. If the analytics script is blocked — for example by an ad blocker — we store a similar random identifier in your browser's local storage instead. These identifiers are used only for the usage measurement described above. If you are visiting from the EU or UK, we ask first — analytics stays off unless you agree.
The Lysoniq Web Remote (web.lysoniq.app) stores functional data in your browser, such as your Apple Music sign-in session, your connection to your own devices, and display preferences. This storage is required for those features to work and is not used to track you.
We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking on any of our sites.
Changed your mind? You can at any time — this also deletes the analytics identifiers from your browser, and if you're in the EU or UK we'll ask again before setting anything.
We collect email addresses in a few separate contexts:
Beta testing: If you submit a beta request through the Website, your email is used solely to send you a TestFlight invitation. Beta testers will not receive marketing or product emails unless they also opt into the mailing list.
Mailing list: If you choose to subscribe to our mailing list, we may send you occasional updates about Lysoniq and related projects. You can unsubscribe at any time by contacting us.
Support & feedback: If you email us or submit a feedback form (from the Website or from within the App), we receive your message and, if you provide it, your email address, which we use solely to respond. Submissions sent from within the App also include diagnostic information — such as the app version, device model, a pseudonymous device identifier, and a diagnostic log — to help us investigate issues. This information is delivered to our support inbox and used only for support.
We do not sell your email address or share it with third parties for their own purposes. It is processed only by the service providers we use to host our services and to deliver email to us.
Lysoniq does not display advertisements and we do not sell data to advertisers.
Playback and listening history stays on your device and is not transmitted to us for storage. Synchronisation messages relayed between your devices are transient and are not retained. Cloud Connectivity records — such as your anonymous device identifier, group membership, and subscription entitlement details — are retained for as long as needed to operate the service, and are removed when a device is deleted, becomes inactive, or upon your request. Pairing codes expire automatically. Anonymous analytics data is retained by our analytics provider in accordance with their privacy policy. Email addresses provided through the Website are retained until you request removal.
Use of Lysoniq requires an Apple Music subscription, which is subject to Apple's own age and consent requirements. We do not independently collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13. If you believe personal information has been submitted on behalf of a minor through the Website, please contact us and we will remove it promptly.
All sensitive data is stored using the operating system's built-in security features. Network communications between the App and external services, including our relay service, use encrypted connections. We follow industry best practices to protect your information.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. Continued use of the App or Website after changes are made constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
If you have any questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy, please contact us at info@lysoniq.app.
